Team: The Edge 15 Elite

Coach Jon Weiland has been a valued member of The Edge Volleyball Club coaching staff since 2016. He began by helping build our boys program and has since become an integral part of our girls program, beach program, and short season offerings. His ability to connect with athletes of all ages and skill levels has made him one of the most respected coaches in our club. A former setter and right-side hitter for the club volleyball team at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), Jon has been competing at a high level since 2009. His experience as both a setter and attacker allows him to coach the game from multiple perspectives while emphasizing volleyball IQ, communication, and complete player development. Most recently, Jon led The Edge 15 Elite team to an outstanding 2025–2026 season, highlighted by a Top-20 finish (17th place) at the 2026 USAV Girls Junior Club Championship and a 1st-place finish in the 15 Club Division of the Windy City Power League. Under his leadership, the team consistently competed with many of the top clubs throughout the Midwest while demonstrating the hard work, resilience, and team-first mentality that define The Edge. Outside of club volleyball, Jon serves as the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at Maine South High School, where he continues to develop student-athletes and build a competitive, team-first culture. Whether coaching at the club or high school level, Jon believes the strongest teams are built on trust, accountability, and genuine enthusiasm for the game. Coach Jon is known for bringing energy, positivity, and passion into every gym he enters. He believes athletes perform at their best when they genuinely enjoy the game, and that passion gives them the confidence and resilience to overcome challenges both on and off the court. He takes pride in helping athletes build confidence, develop a high volleyball IQ, and discover what they are capable of as players, teammates, and leaders.
